Groundworks for new build nursery school

Our project brief:

A Staddon Groundworks successfully undertook a groundworks package for a SIP HUS timber framed nursery school in Launceston

The team at Tiny Tots wanted to create a brand new stimulating care environment for the children under their care. Working with their architects and an entirely blank parcel of land, they designed a structural insulated panel system (SIPS) building, with ample parking, electricity, water and fibre optic services brought onto the land, together with a suitable drainage plan.

We completed the works as follows:

The timber framed “SIP HUS” building was scheduled to arrive and be erected on site, meaning deadlines for the groundworks were strict and finite.

From an empty field, the site required specific and accurate calculations and works on site, to create:

  • accurate and exact foundations and a ground bearing slab to support the building
  • incoming mains supplies for electricity and fibre
  • foul and surface water drainage and mains water connection
  • a variety of walls and steps to create levels on the sloping site
  • a curved disabled access ramp to facilitate ease of access
  • incoming tarmac driveway connecting to main road and to graduate into the slope of the site
  • creation of a tarmac parking area for approximately thirty cars
  • paving to external garden areas around the circumference of the building
  • extensive landscaping to create (albeit child sized) rolling hills and water streams to allow the Tiny Tots team to create a stimulating outdoors experience.

The outcome:

The outcome of our project works was a very smooth completion, on time, to allow the erecting of the timber framed building. The timber frame company were able to erect the building without delay whilst we continued to the exterior landscaping. The client was very happy with the outcome of our works.
